How to Tweet an Amazon Associate Link in Four Easy Steps

by Neil on September 24, 2011

Tweeting an Amazon Affiliate Link is easy.

Don’t let the jumble of letters and numbers, angled brackets and forward slashes throw you.

I’ll show you how I do it:

  1. Get the link from Amazon Affiliate code
  2. Shorten the Link
  3. Write the Tweet
  4. Tweet

Step 1 – Get the link from Amazon

(Note: This part assumes you are an Amazon Affiliate, if you are not, you can sign up here: Amazon Associate sign up.)

Click on the “Text Link” tab. This link HTML is the shortest so it is easier to find the code you need.
Highlight the URL after <a href=” and before the closing quotation marks ()

Copy it

Step 2 Shorten the Link

You can use a third party shortener like bit.ly or if you a using a third party twitter manager like: Seesmic, Tweetdeck or Hootsuite, use their in-built shorteners.

You can also consider hosting the shortened link on your site – which is the preferred option for some people as it means they are not reliant on a third party provider.

In this example I am using Seesmic (web-based manager):

Step 3 Write a Tweet

It can be a recommendation, a suggestion. Let them know what you are recommending so they are not surprised by the link destination.

Step 4 Tweet your Amazon Associate Link

Dead easy.
